EDUCATION MATERIALS & ACTIVITIES

  • Spectrum Internet: Free access to Spectrum Broadband and Wi-Fi for 60 Days For New K-12 and College Student Households (more information or call 844-488-8395)
  • PBS Kids: Free, educational PBS daytime programming designated for each grade level weekdays (more information)

FOOD SERVICES

  • School Food Services: The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE): “Orange County school districts are making plans to offer grab-and-go meals to students impacted by school
  • closures. Start dates, sites and service hours will vary, so be sure to check your local district’s website.” (OCDE’s Updates)

 

GROCERIES STORES

  • Here are some the local groceries stores that will accommodate our most vulnerable populations:
  • Albertsons, Vons, Safeway and Pavilions: Every Tuesday and Thursday, grocery stores operated by Albertsons Companies will only serve vulnerable community members from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Click the following links for further information on each store: AlbertsonsPavilionsSafeway and Vons.
  • Dollar General: The discount retailer will exclusively serve senior shoppers during the first hour of stores’ operating hours. (more information on locations and hours)
  • Gelson’s Markets: Starting March 18, people 65 and over can shop from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. The rest of the public can start shopping at 8 a.m. (more information on locations and hours)
  • Northgate Market: All locations open 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. for people who are 65 and over, pregnant women and people with disabilities. (more information on locations and hours)
  • Stater Bros: Starting March 18, locations open at 7:45 a.m. for shoppers 65 and older. Temporary operating hours to the public are between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. (more information on locations and hours)
  • Target: The retail giant announced that beginning March 18, locations will open an hour early every Wednesday for “vulnerable shoppers.” The stores open to the general public at their normal times but close early daily at 9 p.m. (more information on locations and hours)
  • Whole Foods: Starting March 18, U.S. locations will serve customers 60 or older an hour before opening to the public. (more information on locations and store hours)
  • Garden Grove Restaurants: City of Garden Grove has a list of local grocery stores and pharmacies that are open (more information)

SENIORS

  • 211 for Housing & Food: People can visit www.211oc.org or dial 211 to find out locations where food services are located and for various other assistance
  • OC Office of Aging: The Office of Aging is available to assist seniors who may not have access to food and other necessities as they self-isolate to avoid exposure to COVID-19. Older adults and their families are encouraged to call 800-510-2020 (more information)
  • Food: Senior Center Lunch Café Locations (by Meals on Wheels) have converted to a frozen meal pick-up program. Dates, times, and locations for pick up may be changing. Registered and Unregistered individuals van have a family or friend pick up their meal (more information or call 714-823-3294)

 

MEDICINE

  • CVS Pharmacy will waive charges for home delivery of prescription medications (more information)
  • Walgreens: is waiving delivery fees for all eligible prescriptions during this evolving situation and any purchase on Walgreens.com (more information)

 

MONETARY RELIEF FUNDS ESTABLISHED FOR COVID-19:

  • Orange County Community Foundation: OC Community Resilience Fund Established (more information)
  • Orange County United Way: Pandemic Relief Fund Established (more information)
  • Garden Grove Restaurants: City of Garden Grove has a list of local restaurants that are open for take-out (more information)

 

SMALL BUSINESSES

  • Disaster Loan Assistance: Federal Disaster Loans for Businesses, Private Nonprofits, Homeowners, and Renters (more information) (application)
  • The Small Business Administration: is offering low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the COVID-19 (more information)
  • Orange County Small Business Development Center: Check out updates by visiting their website. You can contact them at 1-800-616-7232 for any additional questions or concerns (more information)
  • Facebook Small Business Grants Program: Facebook is offering $100M in cash grants and ad credits to help (more information)
  • Rapid Response Services for Business Program: Employers planning a closure or major layoffs as a result of COVID-19. For more information, contact your local America's Job Center of California (more information)
  • Santa Ana Small Business Incentive Program: Offers a grant up to $5,000 for businesses with 5 or less employees has waived the “new business” criteria to make it a bit more accessible to businesses (more information)

EMPLOYMENT ISSUES

  • For benefits for workers impacted by COVID-19 visit California’s Employment Development Department website and their Frequently Asked Questions page. For a run-down of labor laws in California, click here
  • Paid family leave is available for those who stay home because they need to take care of someone who has contracted COVID-19 or who has been quarantined (must be certified by a medical professional) (more information)
  • Disability benefits /paid sick leave are available for those who have actually contracted COVID-19 or who have been exposed to it and are quarantined (must be certified by a medical professional in the case of Disability Benefits) (more information)
  • Self-Employed programs are also available (more information)
  • Unemployment Benefits are available to those whose hours have been reduced or who have lost their job due to COVID-19 measures (and it also applies to those who choose to stay home due to underlying health issues making them more vulnerable) (more information)
  • Employer Payroll Reports: “Employers experiencing a hardship as a result of COVID-19 may request up to a 60-day extension of time from the EDD to file their state payroll reports and/or deposit state payroll taxes without penalty or interest. A written request for extension must be received within 60 days from the original delinquent date of the payment or return (more information)
