Della Rosa Grand Opening

In 2018, Orange County took significant steps to build a system of care designed to help people transition permanently out of homelessness.

In June of that year, the Board of Supervisors approved a Housing Funding Strategy in response to the homelessness crisis and a shortage of supportive and affordable housing in Orange County – setting a target goal of 2,700 new supportive housing units within six years. Della Rosa is one of them.

Just as important as coordinating services, that same year the Board co-sponsored Assembly Bill 448, which authorized the County and its cities to create the Orange County Housing Finance Trust – providing hundreds of millions of dollars in public and private funding to develop affordable and supportive housing for both working families and those who are homeless.

In 2019, as Vice Chairman of the Finance Trust, Supervisor Do directed $5 million in county general fund dollars to housing projects. In less than one-year, 299 projects were constructed utilizing the Trust’s funding, with another 1,263 in the process of securing funding, and 634 under construction as of July 2020.

On September 21, 2020, Della Rosa had its grand opening!
