On November 10, 2020, the Orange County Board of Supervisors along with some leaders of OC's Japanese community, celebrated the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Japanese Garden and Teahouse. The history of this garden has been a well-kept secret for 50 years. With its rededication, we hope this garden will continue to thrive and to be used by residents, and our county employees, and city employees here in the Civic Center.

Special thanks to the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles, the Honorable Akira Muto and his wife Misako Muto, WWII Veteran Don Miyada of the 442nd Infantry which was almost entirely Japanese-American, descendants of the members of Japanese American Community Services Inc., the South East Los Angeles and North Orange County (SELANOCO) Chapter of the Japanese American Citizen's League, the Orange County Nikkei Coordinating Council, the Orange County Gardeners Assn., the OC Archives and the City of Santa Ana.
