2,900 OC Small Businesses Apply for OC Supervisor Andrew Do’s Grant Program

 Most Successful Grant Program in Orange County

Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do’s Small Business Grant Program, launched in late June, received more than 2,900 applications from small businesses in the First District, making it the county’s most successful small business stimulus program.

“We’re delivering relief to Orange County small businesses,” said Supervisor Andrew Do, Vice Chairman on the Board of Supervisors. “This program put true small businesses first and reached every community. These grants will deliver meaningful relief to small businesses fighting for their survival.”

Back in late May, Supervisor Do successfully authored the plan that allocated $75 million in federal stimulus funding equally to all five supervisorial districts. Do’s plan ensured that small businesses received assistance and did not favor well-connected larger franchises.

Due to overwhelming demand, awardees were selected based on a randomized computer drawing, broken down by eligible city. This week, award grantees will be notified of their status via email.

Supervisor Do said he hopes Congress gets back to work and approves another federal stimulus package to help more small businesses.

“Small businesses need more help,” he said. ‘I strongly urge Congress to pass another round of economic stimulus to create jobs and keep Orange County small businesses afloat during this pandemic.”
