(Orange County, California) – Don’t fall for the next scam!

To help Orange County seniors fight back against scam artists, Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do is partnering with the Contractors State License Board to host a free Senior Scam Stopper Seminar.

“State lawmakers have put more petty thieves and scam artists back on our streets,” said Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do, a former Orange County prosecutor who now represents the First District on the Board of Supervisors. “We’ve organized this free event to help our community stay one step ahead of the criminals.”

The public is invited to join this free scam prevention seminar to learn how to spot a scam, protect your credit and fight back against identity thieves.

Date: Thursday, April 14
Time: 10 AM to Noon
Where: Westminster Chamber of Commerce (Miriam Warne Room)
Address: 14491 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA 92683

Orange County has begun to suffer the devastating effects of the state’s irresponsible public safety policies, which have released state prisoners and reduced penalties for property crimes. In 2006, the state had more than 173,000 prisoners locked up. Today, that number has dropped to just 127,000.

Last year, property crimes increased by 23 percent in Orange County and 13 percent at the state level. Over the same period, property crimes fell by 4.2 percent nationwide, according to the FBI’s crime statistics.

Scam artists and petty thieves often specifically target seniors. One out of every five seniors has been a victim of fraud, according to the Contractors State License Board.
